I haven't posted on this blog in a while but its time I think to restart this blog. Posts will include old family pictures, family documents and the family's oral tradition.
If you have any of the above, please email me and I will post.
To start us off, the next two posts come from pictures that were housed in Aunt Rose's apartment (sent to me by Elisha).
If you have any details on the these pictures, please add them to the comment section.

Strochin/Diamond Family
I do not know the year this photo was taken, but it shows the Strochin/Diamond/Schiff families.
The Strochin's were Aunt Rose's parents. Sara Schiff (nee' Strochin) was Rose's sister.

Vienna
In between the World Wars, the Diamond family migrated from Kolomyia, Poland to Vienna, Austria.

In Vienna, Opa Diamond had a boot factory, which according to Shulem amply supported the family. The factory was eventually confiscated by the incoming German army.
During their years in Vienna, the family lived on Darwingasse (20). Please see the Web Album for pictures of the apartment complex (courtesy of Yaakov).

Family History
How many of us really know the Family's history. From the beginnings in Kolemaya, Poland to Vienna to DP Camps in France to Williamsburg to Crown Heights to Brooklyn to now.....
Sitting last night at the Chortkover Rebbe's Yor Tzeit Seuda (hosted as always by Shulem and Nuti)--on whose account Opa Diamond did not return to Poland prior to WWII-- I heard for the first time that Opa Diamond had three shoe/boot factories in Vienna. When the Nazi's came in they confiscated all the work boots.
I think it is important to try and preserve whatever we can from the Family's history and I would ask anyone who has a bit of the history to either post it here or send it to me for posting.
